IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Unfortunately the snooker exhibition between Neil Robertson and Mark Selby will not go head this year.  My apoligies to all the snooker fans that support our exhibitions but the circumstances relating to this were beyond our control.

JOHN HIGGINS AND MARK WILLIAMS VISIT CORNWALL FOR THE FIRST TIME
( Saturday 28th February 2009 )

Saturday evening saw Snooker Legends John Higgins and Mark Williams make their first visit to Cornwall to entertain a 320 strong audience at the Keay Theatre, St Austell.

Rapturous applause welcomed ‘Welsh Potting Machine’ Mark Williams into the arena to start the evening’s entertainment.  Mark made breaks of 88, 55 and 41 to capture all three frames against three amateur players.

John was in fine form when he came to the table and thrilled everyone with his flair for break building, making breaks of 77, 72, 37 and 36. He also secured three frames against local players.

The second half of Saturday’s entertainment saw John get off to a flying start taking the first frame in excellent style with an 84 break.  Mark then left John standing as he powered into a three frames to one lead making breaks of 83, 66 and 36 respectively.  Totally unfased by Marks lead John produced some of his best snooker to take the fifth frame with a 92 break.  Mark again raised his game and produced and superb break off 117 but John wasn’t ready to let Mark take the final frame, showing his Scottish grit and determination, he made breaks of 46 and 37 to end the evening.  Mark reigned triumphant winning the head to head four frames to three,

Throughout the evening the two professional players displayed not only their enviable snooker skills on the green baize but their light hearted humour between the audience and themselves.

Both players thoroughly enjoyed the evening and Mark commented “I am really impressed with the welcome that I received in Cornwall”.  John added “The audience were fantastic and the venue was excellent so I’d love to come back to do another exhibition”.

Event promoter David Grigg announced, to an excited audience, that SnookerPlus would be bringing Ronnie ‘The Rocket’ O’Sullivan back into Cornwall within the next 12 months.  In addition to this, SnookerPlus would be diversifying into darts events in the near future, bringing a top PDC player to Cornwall.
